The government has approved changes to the Farmer Support Act, introducing a new scheme for state aid for a reduced excise duty on gas oil, used in primary agricultural production.
The scheme will be implemented after receiving the final number in the state aid register of the European Commission.
The mechanism for providing state aid is changing. It is planned to be provided in the form of cash (refund of part of the value of the excise duty), and not as before – in the form of fuel vouchers. Farmers will apply once and receive the aid at once.
In this way, the process of applying for the aid will be eased, reducing the administrative burden and costs for business, specified by the Government Information Service.
